Overview of Job Duties:
Function as the Faculty Resident Lighting Designer and Sound Designer and/or Projections/Media Designer. Inspire best practice and innovation in process and technological advances within these design fields. Act as lead Shop Supervisor and mentor student designers and technicians in these areas. Share responsibility with the technical design staff for facilitating, organizing and supervising production execution of lighting, sound and projections/media for theatre and dance in our multiple venue facility. Design lighting, sound and/or projections/media on 1-3 shows per semester. Teach 2 courses per semester in areas of stage lighting, sound, projections/ media and related courses. Participate on department committees. Mentor student designers, practicum and paid student labor in the electrics shops and safety training of students. Participate in BFA Design, Technology and Management portfolio reviews.
Minimum Qualifications: MFA degree and experience in related field/or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Formal instruction in lighting and sound design and/or projections/media design. Significant professional experience in the area(s) of lighting, sound, and/or projections /media design for dance and theatre. University teaching experience.

The Department of Theatre & Dance is a lively and active community. The department offers BA, BFA, MA and Ph.D. degrees in Theatre and BA, BFA and MFA degrees in Dance. The department employs a Faculty Technical Director in Theatre, a Faculty Director of Dance Production, a Theatre & Dance Production Coordinator, an Assistant Technical Director in Theatre, an Master Electrician and 22 paid student employees in both Theatre and Dance. The department produces approximately 17 Theatre & Dance productions per academic year in 4 venues and hosts the Colorado Shakespeare Festival in the summer months.
