In this teaching-focused position, you will have a chance to make an impact on students who are studying at Bachelor level. The position will begin in the autumn of 2024 or as agreed.

Responsibilities: The lecturer will be working in the major of Costume Design: Performing Arts and Film in the BA programme in Film. The work mainly consists of teaching duties, guiding and advising Bachelor students’ theses, students’ guidance in Personal Study Planning (HOPS), and administrative tasks including teaching planning, resourcing/budget planning, and coordinating guest teachers. The lecturer must have the skill and desire for open and active interaction with the students and must be able to guide the students in the teaching situation, supporting their own artistic orientation. The lecturer is responsible for the curriculum planning and development independently, as well as in collaboration with the other academic staff of the Department of Film and with partner institutions such as the University of the Arts Helsinki (Taideyliopisto). Co-teaching and co-learning play an important role in the costume design major, so planning courses and projects in collaboration with other teachers is a natural part of the work. The lecturer's job description also includes participating in student admissions.

The emphasis of the lecturer’s responsibility is on teaching. Aalto University's Department of Film supports the possibility for staff to do their own artistic work, for which short-term unpaid leave can be granted upon agreement with the department.
