JOB TITLE:   

Costume Designer and Instructor

JOB PURPOSE:   

The Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for one (1) tenure track position in costume design starting Fall Semester, 2023. This position will be hired at the Assistant Professor rank.  Individuals will be responsible for designing costumes for all main season productions (minimum of 4 per AY).  They may also mentor a highly qualified student designer to serve in that production capacity for one production. High standards of quality are expected in productions with large casts and complex technical support as well as in small cast productions where the environment created must show high quality work. A successful candidate must be able to work productively and collaboratively with the director and other designers to develop concepts and realize designs for production as well as maintain and reconcile a budget in a fiscally responsible manner for each production. Teaching responsibilities include costume related courses, as well as an ability to contribute to the delivery of our undergraduate programs. Service includes, but is not limited to, departmental, college and university committee work, recruiting and workshops, and participation in the Wyoming State Thespian Festival.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Design costumes for all main season productions in Department of Theatre & Dance.  Teach costume design courses as well as other classes to serve the Design/Tech curriculum.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

.Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a M.F.A. in Costume Design at the time of appointment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college and/or university level.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to the delivery of our undergraduate program.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional theatres.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
  • Demonstrated experience or ability to mentor student designers
