As the creative center of the University of South Florida, the College of the Arts provides an enriched, creative, and professional environment for tomorrow’s leaders in architecture, art, art history, music, theatre, dance, and design. The College’s three research centers lead the way making meaningful contributions to their field in practical ways every day, the most prominent being the university’s world renowned Graphicstudio. 

Our Contemporary Art Museum, Wilson Gallery, three professional theaters and two state of the art concert halls allow us to produce nearly 400 events each year, including concerts, performances, exhibitions, lectures, conferences, masterclasses, and festivals—all free of charge and open to the entire Tampa Bay community. 

The School of Theatre and Dance embraces, practices, teaches, and graduates student-artists as global citizens, who use their art to explore, celebrate, and expose the travesties and triumphs of humankind. The faculty of the School of Theatre and Dance is comprised of professional creatives, whose work is known the world over.  Students will experience a guest artist series coupled with unique study abroad and research opportunities.  Graduates go on to enjoy success with the likes of Broadway, Kate Weare Company, Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, Disney World and Busch Gardens; they perform, design and direct for television and film, become artistic and managing directors, high school teachers, college professors, choreographers, and technical professionals.  The USF School of Theater and Dance fosters and cultivates adaptable thinkers, intelligent, compassionate leaders and creative risk takers who will impact the arts field and beyond through mindful action attentive to their diverse socio-cultural environments. 

The College is an integral engine for socioeconomic progress through research, advocacy, and engagement. Our interdisciplinary ecosystem facilitates, prepares, and educates our students and faculty to become creative leaders in a global society as we engage and collaborate to create lasting positive impact. 

Duties:
The USF College of the Arts, School of Theatre and Dance seeks an innovative leader who is ready to chart a new direction for the school toward a vital future. The School resides in the College of the Arts which recently completed a strategic plan that includes a focus on research/creative practice, access, and meaningful community engagement. 

The ideal candidate will be able to build upon existing strengths and areas of research in order to further develop a collaborative shared vision for the School.  In addition to serving as the educational and operational head of the School, its facilities and its personnel, the Director will also be part of the Dean’s Council, helping to realize College wide goals and advocate for the School. The Director also serves as the producing director of the School’s public performance program. As we try to improve our international prominence, we believe a deep engagement with our local community is a point of distinction. A successful candidate will invest in existing alumni and community partnerships and actively build new relationships. 

Minimum Qualifications:
• Terminal Degree in Theater, Dance or Theatrical Design, or related area of study or equivalent professional experience. 
• Previous academic experience and record of research and/or creative activity for a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. 
• Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across disciplines in and outside of the arts. 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with community organizations through outreach, research, teaching and/or creative activities.
• Administrative experience at the university level.
• Demonstrated success working with alumni development.
• Experience engaging in donor relationships.
• Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion with demonstrated ability to lead effective change in diverse groups.
