The Fountain School of Performing Arts (FSPA) at Dalhousie University invites applications for a ten-month (75% FTE) limited-term appointment in Voice (Chorus), at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant Professor, commencing September 1, 2021. The position is subject to budgetary approval.
The successful candidate’s duties may include but are not limited to leading the Dalhousie Chorus; leading a small voice ensemble (Ora); teaching aural skills to music majors and teaching voice clinic for acting students. These classes are already scheduled, and detailed information is available on Dalhousie Academic Timetable. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to administrative service within the Fountain School of Performing Art serving as a member of the creative team and contributing to School discussions.
The qualifications required for this position are Bachelor’s degree in Music and extensive professional experience in choral conducting and choral theatre; evidence of commitment to new music and multi-disciplinary performance; professional experience of successful collaboration with artists from equity-deserving groups; aptitude for teaching aural skills and working with untrained singers; evidence of effective teaching at the post-secondary level and demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility. The ability to work collegially with others is essential.
