The Tufts University Department of Music serves those students who wish to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies in music and all students seeking to develop their musical knowledge and/or performance skills. The Music department provides students the opportunity for private study of instrumental and/or vocal performance in a broad range of styles including Classical, Jazz, Rock, Klezmer, and the folk and classical traditions of Eastern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Mediterranean, India, Japan, and Indonesia.
Community Music at Tufts offers programs for children and adults. Programs include: Tufts Youth Philharmonic; Saturday Classes for children ages 2-18; Adult classes for chamber music, voice, piano, and guitar; and a two week Summer Music Program for children ages 7-12.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Director of Outreach, Community Music Instructors teach and coach in their area of expertise – orchestral sectionals, group or semi-private lessons, or chamber music coaching. The number of hours on Fridays and Saturdays during the academic year ranges from 1 – 8. The hours for the summer music program are between 2-4pm.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by a Bachelor's degree in music performance and 3+ years of experience teaching university students at the highest level
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in music
DMA
Recognized performer in the greater Boson area/US with experience guiding university students to graduate programs and performance opportunities
