The Tufts University Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies seeks applicants for a one-semester part-time lecturer position in Dance.  We are inviting a number of dance lecturers to visit Tufts for one semester over the course of the next two-three academic years, commencing with the Fall 2023 semester.  Responsibilities include teaching one undergraduate introductory course in a genre specific dance technique.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in dance, dance education, or a dance research-related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • A minimum of one year full- or part-time college/university teaching experience in designing and teaching semester-long studio courses that include viewing, reading, and written work; and placing dance in its socio-historical context, addressing issues of equity and justice that have impacted or are reflected by current concerns in the form.
  • Expertise in one or more genre specific dance form (such as, but not limited to, African; Asian, South/South East Asian, Polynesian dance; Middle Eastern; Global Folk traditions; Latinx; Indigenous forms; T’ai Chi; Ballroom and Social Dance; Hip Hop and street styles; Tap and Jazz dance forms; improvisation and/or Somatics; Modern dance).
