Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Music (Strings) Tenure Track

FLSA Status: Exempt

Posted Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.

Employment Status: Full Time

Department: School of Arts & Sciences

 

Job Summary

  • Teach applied Strings, String Methods, Chamber Ensemble, and Music Theory
  • Teach related method and music literature courses. All faculty are expected to participate fully in departmental and university affairs: this includes serving on committees, academic advising, and student recruitment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Candidate should have a strong record of teaching and performance excellence in directing collegiate and secondary school string programs
  • Significant commitment to music performance and education.
  • Sequential Teaching methodology

Essential Job Functions

  • Teach String method classes
  • Teach music theory and /or sight singing and aural skills
  • Conduct chamber ensemble and develop string orchestra
  • Teach Applied Strings
  • Serve on Committees
  • Recruiting

Qualifications

The applicant must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Music with a strong background in applied strings. College teaching experience preferred. Experience with Orchestra is a plus.

Licensing and Certifications

Suzuki string methods Preferred
