Position: Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure track, nine-month appointment.
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate studio and lecture courses, in at least two of the following areas: design foundations/fundamentals; interior materials (e.g., properties, selection, specification, installation); residential design; commercial design; hospitality design; and healthcare/health design
- Work with program coordinator and faculty team to maintain CIDA-accredited status
- Productively engage in a program of research and/or creative scholarship with output in publications and/or exhibitions of work
- Participate in curriculum development, accreditation, and marketing of undergraduate and graduate programs
- Direct and serve on graduate advising committees
- Seek internal/external grant opportunities
- Provide service to the department, college, and university
- Be actively involved with industry and/or relevant professional associations
Start Date: Position is available with a desired start date of January 1, 2024 but not later than August 16, 2024.
Undergraduate Program: The nationally ranked, CIDA-accredited program has approximately 100 pre-majors at freshman level and 140 majors competitively selected for the sophomore to senior sequenced, studio-based program that includes a 10-week professional internship. Students pay an extra professional fee to support specialized program needs and updates, field trips, approved certifications, and the IDFX exam. An industry Advisory Board has provided strong support for 30 years. The INDS Curriculum is also NASAD credited.
Department and University: The Department of Consumer and Design Sciences has 20 faculty positions (16 full-time, tenured/tenure track and 4 lecturers), 630 undergraduates and 30 graduate students. Bachelor of Science programs are Interior Design; Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management; and Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies. The graduate program offers master’s and doctoral degrees in Consumer and Design Sciences.
