The Theater Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) in Directing to join the department’s BS degree program for academic year 23-24.  This position will direct our Spring Mainstage production, teach Introductory and Intermediate Directing, and teach courses in Intro to Theater or Theater History. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion and cultural competency in teaching, production, student mentoring, and the profession.

Candidates should be prepared to teach courses at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels; to mentor students in the areas of candidate’s expertise; and to support the department ‘s production season and collective governance.

Education: Undergraduate degree (BA, BFA, BS) required; MFA, DFA, PhD or comparable terminal degree preferred. 

Experience working with undergraduates required; professional experience preferred.

Pay Range:  Commensurate with experience
