Tulane University’s Department of Theatre and Dance is seeking a full-time, tenure-line faculty member specializing in Costume Design at the rank of assistant or early associate professor. The department is in the process of revising its graduate curriculum, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape the content and structure for future graduate cohorts. The department is committed to inclusive and equitable practices in work, teaching, and production. We are excited to bring innovative faculty members who can help us create a dynamic, inclusive, and progressive program. We seek a candidate with strong collaboration and communication skills and professional network resources for MFA and undergraduates entering the field or for internships. Applicants must have the capacity to effectively teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and to engage in the collective life of the University through service and administrative roles. Excellent funding opportunities are available for work in the successful candidate's area of expertise. Creating and sustaining an environment of equity and inclusion in curriculum and work practices, utilizing mentoring techniques designed to increase the likelihood of success for every student creative collaboration, teaching excellence building a national/international reputation as an artist/scholar, active participation in department activities. Qualifications: Terminal degree (MFA) or commensurate professional experience, design experience in both dance and theatre, additional areas of expertise in design or non-design disciplines, experience in curriculum development, commitment to creating and producing new work, IATSE membership, professional experience in costume design, university teaching experience, knowledge of contemporary training practices and techniques, general knowledge of costume technology and construction.
