The Department of Performing Arts at Georgetown University invites applications for a full-time, one-year Assistant Teaching Professor (Non-Tenure Line) position in Music for the 2025–2026 academic year. The teaching load is three courses per semester, focused at the undergraduate level. Responsibilities include contributing to the American Musical Cultures major, teaching in the Music Program’s core and upper-level curriculum, and supporting the broader academic mission of the department.

 

We are seeking a musicologist or ethnomusicologist with demonstrated teaching experience and scholarly engagement in music theory, writing about music, jazz history, ethnography, and/or music and media studies. The successful candidate will join a vibrant interdisciplinary department and contribute to a flexible, student-centered curriculum that emphasizes global, political, historical, and technological approaches to music.
