Expertise: Horton Dance Technique and researching/creating a cross listed course exploring dance related to sociological theory.

Cheyla has attended Horton Dance Technique training at the Ailey Studios in New York City. Her recent choreography includes several works for Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre, Contemporary Dance Oklahoma, and nomadicLimbs of Milwaukee. In the summer of 2008 Clawson set the duet "Between" including dancer Caine Keenan (a former member of the Ririe Woodbury Dance Company) and named by Dance Magazine as a 'Top 25 to Watch' in 2010. Her M.F.A. thesis topic from the University of Oklahoma was written on legendary Ailey dancer, Dudley Williams, and focused on the years he danced for both Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham.
