My mission as an educator is to develop and nurture performing artists with a wide range of expressive and technical abilities. I implement Anne Bogart’s Viewpointing theory as a way of encouraging artists to understand the power of their presence in the space and the importance of choices made when executing ideas. Technology—especially video feedback—is also integrated in my teaching as a way of engaging variant learning skills. In this creative and educational process Artists are allowed to film and immediately assess their work process. My theater accesses the strong theatrical and movement backgrounds of my precursors (Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Pina Bausch, and Anne Bogart) to forge more expressive, diverse movers.
