As a specialist primarily in American music, broadly defined, Adriana's research focuses on the ways in which various types of music from various ethnic and national groups converged in the United States and were transformed to form its various musical traditions—classical, popular and folk. She is also interested in the ways in which U.S. popular genres have been received around the world and the transformations that take place during that process.
Other interests include 20th and 21st century music, music and culture, music and politics, gender studies and vocal/choral music.
