Description
The Department of Art at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Painting and Drawing, to commence in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of contemporary painting and drawing practices and contribute to the department's interdisciplinary and forward-thinking vision.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Terminal degree (or foreign equivalent) in Studio Art or an appropriate discipline, or equivalent commensurate experience. Established and active practice with a professional exhibition record. At least three years of independent teaching experience at the college/university level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to introduce diverse and contemporary pedagogical perspectives reflecting on national and international transformations in painting practice. Ability to teach broadly in painting and drawing. Experience in curriculum development, program supervision, and mentorship and professional development at undergraduate and graduate levels.
